Privacy Policy

Cool Fridge collects no personal data, contains no advertising or analytics, and never sends anything off your device. This page explains that in full.

Last updated 2 September 2026 · Applies to Cool Fridge for iPhone and iPad (bundle identifier coolbe.fridge.sorting.game)

Summary

The short version

  • We collect no personal data at all — there is no account, no sign-in and no identifier of any kind.
  • The app makes no network requests. It works fully offline and has nowhere to send data to.
  • There is no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking SDK in the app.
  • Everything you create — progress, statistics, journal photos — stays in the app’s own storage on your device.
  • Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no cloud backup we hold and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

This policy is written by the developer of Cool Fridge, who is the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR — although, since no personal data is processed, most of that regime has nothing to act on.

What we collect

Nothing

Cool Fridge does not collect, transmit, sell, share or otherwise disclose personal information. Concretely, the app does not gather any of the following:

  • Name, email address, phone number or postal address.
  • Account credentials — there is no account system.
  • Contacts, calendars, health data, location or motion data.
  • Device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA), IP address or user agent.
  • Usage analytics, session recordings, heatmaps or event telemetry.
  • Crash logs sent to us. (Anonymous crash and usage reports may be sent to Apple if you enabled that in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements — that is a system-level Apple feature governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not by us, and we do not receive individual data from it.)

Because no personal data is processed, the app performs no profiling, no automated decision-making and no cross-app or cross-site tracking as defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. The app therefore never shows a tracking permission prompt.

Data stored on your device

What the app saves, and where

To remember your progress between sessions, the app writes to its own sandboxed storage on the device. None of it is readable by other apps, and none of it is transmitted anywhere.

Retention. This data stays on the device until you remove it. “Reset all progress” in the app’s Settings erases the saved progress and statistics; deleting the app removes everything, journal photos included. If you use iCloud Backup or an encrypted local backup, iOS may include the app’s data in that backup — that copy is held by Apple or by you under Apple’s terms, and we have no access to it.

Device permissions

Asked only when you use the feature

Each permission is requested at the moment you first use the feature that needs it — never on launch — and declining any of them leaves the rest of the game fully playable.

  • Camera — only to take a photo for the Fridge Journal. The photo is written to the app’s documents folder on the device. No image is uploaded or analysed.
  • Photo library — only to pick an existing photo for the Fridge Journal, or to save one of your journal photos back out to Photos when you ask for it. The app reads only the item you select.
  • Notifications — only to deliver the optional daily reminder you schedule yourself. Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS; there is no push server, so no device token is ever generated or sent.

You can change any of these at any time in iOS Settings › Cool Fridge, or in iOS Settings › Notifications › Cool Fridge.

Third parties and networking

No SDKs, no servers, no ads

The app bundles no third-party analytics, attribution, advertising or crash-reporting SDK, and it contacts no server of ours or anyone else’s. It contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising, so there is no payment or ad-network processing either.

The only third party involved in your use of the app is Apple, which distributes it through the App Store and provides the operating system. Apple’s handling of your App Store account, downloads and any diagnostics you have opted into is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

If you contact support by email, that message and your email address are processed by your mail provider and by Apple’s iCloud Mail, which hosts our support address — see the Contact section below.

Children

Safe for all ages

Cool Fridge is a puzzle game suitable for all ages. It knowingly collects no information from anyone, children included, and so collects nothing from a child under 13 (or under the equivalent age of digital consent in your country). It contains no chat, no user-to-user communication, no external links inside gameplay, no advertising and no purchases.

Your rights and choices

You already hold all of it

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) give you rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection over personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to look up, export, correct or delete — and nothing to sell or share, which we have never done and will not do.

You retain full, direct control over the data on your device:

  • Delete specific content — remove individual Fridge Journal entries inside the app.
  • Erase progress — use “Reset all progress” in the app’s Settings.
  • Erase everything — delete the app from your device.
  • Withdraw a permission — turn off camera, photo library or notification access in iOS Settings at any time.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may complain to your local data protection authority. We would rather you wrote to us first, so we can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date at the top will change with it. Material changes will also be described in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them. The policy that applies to you is the one published here.
